GEN Türkiye organized the "Open House: Cyprus" event, hosted by the Turkish Cypriot Women Entrepreneurs Association, on October 12, marking a significant contribution to the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Cyprus.
What is GEN Türkiye?
The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is an international network established to promote entrepreneurship worldwide. Operating in 200 countries, GEN aims to provide the resources, education, and networks that entrepreneurs need to succeed. As the Turkey chapter of this global network, GEN Türkiye actively works to strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly supporting young entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, and presenting entrepreneurship as a viable career path. GEN Türkiye organizes a range of programs, events, and networks to guide entrepreneurs, while also creating platforms that connect local entrepreneurs with global investors.
GEN Türkiye in Northern Cyprus: Open House Event Opens New Doors for Entrepreneurship
As part of this mission, GEN Türkiye held the 'GEN Türkiye: Open House Meeting' on October 12, 2024, in Kyrenia, giving a boost to the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Cyprus. Hosted by Entrepreneurial Business Women Association (GİKAD) at the Kyrenia Acapulco Hotel, the event brought together 25 different entrepreneurs and 10 mentors, each an expert in their field. Founders of CES also attended the event as guests, where entrepreneurs who had reached a certain level with their projects were able to present their business ideas to the mentors. By connecting local entrepreneurs with investors and leading figures in the business world, the event opened doors for new collaborations.
Why is this event important?
The event directly contributed to four key areas essential for the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem::
• Access to Capital and Funding Resources: The event allowed entrepreneurs to reach investors through GEN mentors. By providing both guidance and funding support, it offered a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to scale their projects.
• Networking: The event enabled entrepreneurs to connect directly with successful businesspeople, mentors, and investors. In doing so, they gained the chance to showcase their work, forge partnerships, and build connections with both the local and global ecosystems..
• Entrepreneurship Culture: By raising awareness of entrepreneurship and supporting the growth of an entrepreneurial culture, the event contributed to encouraging young entrepreneurs to develop creative and innovative business ideas.
• Capacity Building: Through mentorship, entrepreneurs enhanced their skills in developing business ideas and making strategic decisions, strengthening their capacity to compete on an international level.
